Specifies requirements and methods of test for water softeners in the form of cation exchangers rated for a maximum flow rate of 10 m[3]/h. These are designed for use in drinking water installations and regenerated with sodium chloride. The installation of water softeners is dealt with in DIN 1988-2, and their operation and maintenance, in DIN 1988-8. Cation exchangers as part of dishwashing machines and other domestic appliances.
