About the Insulated Cable Engineers Association
The Insulated Cable Engineers Association (ICEA) is a professional industry body dedicated to the development of cable Standards in the electric power, control and telecommunications sectors. The body produces key documents with global significance for cable manufacturers, architects and engineers, telecommunication engineers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and utility and manufacturing plant personnel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the most common questions about the Insulated Cable Engineers Association.
The ICEA is an industry association. Members are sponsored by leading American and European cable manufacturers. The body sets Standards across four semi-autonomous sections. These are power, control and instrumentation, portable and communications cable.
Operating since 1925, the ICEA’s goal is to ensure safe, economical and efficient cable systems which utilise proven, state-of-the-art materials and concepts. As the rate of technological change speeds up, ICEA Standards have achieved global significance and reach.
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is responsible for continuous improvement and refinement of industry Standards. TAC members may be ICEA members (manufacturer sponsored), connected with organisations using cables (direct-user) or connected with a non-ICEA organisation which has a closely related cable interest (associate member). Many ICEA standards are approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
The ICEA is a not-for-profit industry organisation. Meetings are held quarterly, with organisation business conducted in a General Meeting. ICEA membership is confined to individual engineers with specific product expertise. The ICEA is located in Miamitown, OH, USA.
